Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Relay. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using Relay on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Relay provides real-time speech transcription and translation to facilitate conversations between speakers of different languages. The Service supports both signed-in users and guests joining via QR code or shared link. Core features include voice-based translation, conversation history, and session sharing.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Relay only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Use the Service to transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, or abusive
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service
• Use the Service to record or share others' conversations without their consent
• Circumvent any access controls or rate limits
• Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these conditions.

5. Audio and Content

By using Voice mode, you grant us a limited license to process your audio solely for the purpose of transcription and translation within your active session. Audio is not stored after transcription. Transcribed text is retained for up to 7 days to support conversation history, then deleted automatically. You retain ownership of the content you provide.

6. Third-Party Services

Relay uses third-party services including OpenAI/Groq (transcription), DeepL (translation), Google OAuth (authentication), Upstash Redis (session storage), Resend (email), and Fly.io (hosting). Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these providers. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

7. Service Availability

We aim to keep Relay available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime or service changes.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that translations are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Relay is not intended for use in safety-critical situations where translation errors could cause harm.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, mistranslation, or communication failures.

10. Intellectual Property

All software, design, and branding related to Relay is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our explicit written permission.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of Relay after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users.
